STUDENTS APPLYING FOR FIRST THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE
As part of the admissions process, we would like all students in the first through eighth grades to spend a day or two on campus. Visiting students will participate in an entrance evaluation and in class activities along with current students. This is an opportunity for school personnel, prospective students, and their families to gather additional information to make an informed decision regarding enrollment at Carden Arbor View School. As an alternative to visitation, students in first through eighth grades may participate in the evaluation on:

Saturday, March 8, 2008 (Second through eighth grade alternative)

STUDENTS APPLYING FOR KINDERGARTEN
We will evaluate students entering the kindergarten on the Saturday test dates listed below. Sign-up sheets for the Saturday evaluation will be available at the orientation meeting or you may call the office to make an appointment. Evaluation takes approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Saturday, March 1, 2008
Saturday, March 15, 2008

FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Bring or mail to the office the following items one week prior to your child's test or classroom visitation date. Your testing appointment is guaranteed by our receipt of these items.

  • COMPLETED APPLICTION FORM (available on CAVS web site, at Information Evening, and from the school office.)
  • COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR OTHER PROOF OF AGE (for prospective kindergarten students)
  • RECOMMENDATION (required for First through eighth grades)
  • NON-REFUNDABLE $100 TESTING FEE

We encourage you to call the office and schedule a classroom visitation and campus tour.

Enrollment offers are mailed to parents by March 30.

Step 1: Assessment

Every child applying for admission to Carden Arbor View School must complete an assessment. The purpose of the Assessment is to ensure the child is ready for our curriculum on many levels. While children can be intellectually ready for a challenging academic program, they may not be emotionally or socially ready for such an environment.

For kindergarten children, this assessment is geared toward determining the child's readiness to spend a full day in a classroom program.

For children in first through eighth grades, the assessment is geared toward determining whether the child will be successful in a demanding academic program.

The assessment must be scheduled with the school. Before the assessment of each child, parents must fill out an application and pay a $100 Assessment Fee. Please note the Assessment Fee is non-refundable.

Step 2: Offer of Admission

Once the admission process is complete, the school will make a determination about admission and communicate with the parents the status of their child's admission.

Depending upon the enrollment period, admission may be offered immediately and the child encouraged to join the class in the current year. However, admission may be offered for the following school year, or an admission offer may be held until mid-March; when students re-enrolling must registar for the new school year and the grade level openings are finalized.

Classroom Visitation

Prior to admission, we encourage children in first through eighth grades to spend a half- or full-day in the classroom they may join. This visit often helps children decide if Carden Arbor View is best for them.
