Julianna Silguero Makes Exciting Decisions

As Head of School For a Day

Julianna Silguero had the priviledge of being  Head of School for the  Day last Friday.  Her parents were the high bidders on this opportunity at CAPER last year.

Her first decision was to declare standard dress day, and second, each student could bring a favorite toy to enjoy at break times.  She also arranged for a bouncer for the students to play on during physical education.  All the students really enjoyed this special treat!

Julianna shadowed Mrs. Edwards during the day and had lunch with her at Chick-Fil-A.  Julianna's  favorite part of the day was playing on the bounce house and ending the day by  helping out with dismissal!

Thanks Julianna for being our Head of School for the day!

Important Parent Notice!

New Child Car Seat Safety Law Keeps Kids Safe

On January 1, the state rules changed, setting booster seat requirements for older, taller children. Children 8 years old OR under 4'9" in height must be secured in a car seat  or booster seat.  Booster seats ensure the safety belt is properly  positioned across the child and restrains rather than injures the child in a collision.

For all future field trips at Carden, parents please provide a booster seat for students who do not meet the required age & weight.  If a seat is not provided, the child will not be allowed to go on the trip.  The room parents of each class will be taking special notice of this law and the requirements for the safety of our students.   Read more....

Special Thanks from Steven's Hope for Children

The following letter was sent to Mr. Dean a few days ago, thanking families for your generous support!

  Dear friends,

As we move into a new year, it is a great time to reflect on the successes of 2011 at Steven's Hope for Children.

Our supporters and volunteers allowed us to assist more than 1500 children through our three programs. Housing for Hope provided over 850 days of housing to families who were all thankful for a “home-away-from-home” while their child was receiving treatment.  Families benefited from the Fill-A-Need gift cards for food, transportation and other necessities.  Hundreds of children were clothed through the Klothing Kids project from the Children’s Boutiques at Steven’s Hope that many local businesses helped to support.

Our families received blessings through our We Care Program in the form of emotional support, friendship, and activities. The recently completed Winter Wonderland project  allowed us to distribute over $50,000 in donated food and gifts to families in need during the holidays.

A record number of volunteers contributed over 2,000 hours each month for much needed assistance for special events, ongoing administrative assistance and at the two Children’s Boutiques. We are grateful for the way people gave their time and talents to help with all that was accomplished.

The year was not without its challenges, both emotional and financial. Our hearts were broken with the passing of some precious angels who lost the battle with their illness. Too many other children and families were not able to receive our help as budgets were stretched to capacity.

Despite the obvious economic challenges, 2012 holds hidden opportunities for all of us. This year will bring more families to our doorstep looking for help. With the passion of the volunteers, donors and friends who believe in the mission and goals of Steven’s Hope for Children, the lives of many children and their families can be forever impacted.

As Steven’s Hope begins its tenth year of assisting families, we reach a milestone that we were not sure was even possible: ten years. In that time, thousands of lives have been touched, not only of those we serve, but the ones who have served. There is much more to do in our next ten years. Your involvement has, and will help us to continue to save lives.

On behalf of the entire Steven's Hope for Children staff and the families we were able to assist, we thank you for your continued support and wish you and your family a healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year.

 Sincerely,

Tony & Sandy Cappelli
Co-Founders, Steven's Hope for Children

Have a great weekend!
