6th Grade Science Students Host
Rock and Gem Show
On Thursday, the sixth grade science students presented rock and gem collections to other classmates at school. It was a fun day of learning and sharing about the various kinds of rocks and gems!

On behalf of the board of trustees, students and families of Carden Arbor View School, we wish to extend a special thanks to all of you who volunteered your time and talents to make the Upland Chamber of Commerce Mixer and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony a very successful event.
Below are a few highlights of the 30th Anniversary celebration event which included a ribbon cutting with Upland Chamber members, recognition awards from Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Bob Dutton, City of Upland, Mayor Ray Musser and council members and Assemblyman Mike Morell. Our parents provided delicious foods and appetizers and handmade celebration cookies!

Good Bye and Good Luck to Jennifer Hoekwater
On, Friday, December 2, 2011, Jennifer Hoekwater will be leaving Carden Arbor View School to start a new life in Idaho! Pack your warm woolies! Jennifer will be missed in our child care program! Thank you Jennifer for taking good care of our Carden students. Best of luck in your future!

Do You Need Child Care for the Upcoming Holidays?
Please sign up at childcare by December 9th if you are interested in leaving your child in child care during the upcoming holiday break:

In order for CAVS to provide childcare during this time we must have at least six (6) families sign up.
If we have enough interest from families who want child care we accommodate them during this time. We need at least six families to sign up to keep child care open. Thank you.

HOT LUNCH REMINDER
Please remember lunch orders are due the at the end of each month. A late fee of $10 per lunch form is required after the first of each month. Please include the fee with the money you turn in with your lunch order form.
Same day lunches MUST be ordered by 10 am and the cost is $10 per order. The money is required by the end of the day. If payment is not received by the end of the same day, same day lunch privileges will be revoked until the account is a zero balance.
Emergency Sustenance Lunches can be the actual lunch IF there is extra lunch that day. Otherwise, expect your child to have carrot sticks, celery sticks, fruit, cheese, crackers, juice and milk. Do NOT assume your child will receive regular lunch if it is an emergency lunch. Either way, emergency lunch cost is $5.00 and it is understood that the meal must be paid for that day. Unpaid emergency sustenance meals will forfeit this service in the future and the parent will be required to bring a lunch to the school for their child.

After school French, Mandarin and Spanish classes will continue to be offered at CAVS in the winter. Classes resume the 2nd and 3rd weeks of January. For the schedule come pick up a flyer in the main office or go to the website at www.langocucamonga.com/classes.htm .
An early registration promotional discount will run through December 5th which will take $15 off your child's tuition. Also, returning students get an additional 10% off with the coupon code: lango910. Register on line and pay on line or if you prefer to pay by cash or check you should register on line but mark "pay later" on the registration form. every Monday is a Required Uniform Day. Standard Dress Days are the the 1st and last Friday of each school month.

FOR EACH $20 or more receipt brought in between now and December 31, 2011, Carden will receive a $1.00 donation from Fresh & Easy. Last year we received over $700 dollars that supported our sports programs.
It's easy to participate. Just bring in any $20 and above receipt from any Fresh & Easy market into the front office between now and December 31, 2011.

Maura Graber of RSVP Institute Etiquette Classes will begin a series of six classes on Mondays beginning January 9, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 27. If you're interested in signing up your child for etiquette classes , sign up sheets will be available in the front office. The fee is $60.00 for six classes. Classes open for grades K thru 8. Cross Country Continues and New Archery and Basketball Begins!
After school Cross Country will continue on Tuesdays at 3:15 pm for students in grades 1st-8th. Sign up sheets are available in the front office for new students.
Archery Classes will begin the week of January 10th for students in 4th-8th grades. Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 pm. Please sign up in the front office.
5th-8th Grade Boys & Girls Basketball will start on Tuesday, December 6th from 3:15-4:30 pm. More information to follow.
