Head of School - Mrs. Cathy Edwards
Mrs.
Cathy Edwards began her career at Carden Arbor View School in 1982 as
a kindergarten teacher, the year after the school was founded. She taught
kindergarten for 15 years, becoming the lead kindergarten teacher in 1987.
In his second year as Head of School, Mr. Duane Jackman, recognizing Mrs. Edwards' mastery of the Carden Method, appointed Mrs. Edwards Director of Education. In that position she supervised the implementation of the Carden Method and Curriculum by teachers in all CAVS's classrooms. Mrs. Edwards held the position of Director of Education from 1997 through the 2006-2007 school year, serving also as Interim Head of School during the 2001-2002 school year. She has also managed the summer school and camp since 1990.
Mrs. Edwards has studied Early Childhood and Special Education at Cal State Fullerton and Non Profit Management at UC Riverside. She also has attended Carden training annually in addition to participating in numerous other professional education programs.
