5th Grade Students Sing Carols at Upland Rehabilitation Center
December 2012 - Mrs. Humphries scheduled a field trip to Upland Rehab Center for the 5th grade students to carol through the hallways this week in hopes of spreading the some holiday cheer.
In preparation for the event, many of the 5th grade parents worked with the students last week in making 85 handmade Christmas cards. The students met in the art room and decorated all the envelopes and wrote special holiday messages "from" Carden Arbor View School.
Cards were passed out to all residents attending the caroling in the dining room, then students made their way through the hallways, stopping in front of patient rooms, caroling and passing out cards to the patients. There were so many happy, welcoming faces from the elderly who were so glad to hear music from our young students and to receive a holiday card to place on their bed tables. Some even shed tears.
In addition to the Holiday Cards, the students also made warm, beautiful fleece blankets and personally visited some patients who have no families and gave them the beautiful blankets.
Priceless. Happy Holidays!
Steven's Hope - December 2012
Share the Joy of the Holidays!
Carden Arbor View School partnered this month with Steven's Hope for Children, an organization dedicated to helping families with seriously ill or injured children. Through its three programs, Steven's Hope not only provides housing and other essential needs that may no longer be affordable when dealing with a serious illness, they offer families hope for a brighter future and family togetherness.
Our students and families participated in this year's Winter Wonderland project by providing three truck loads of presents and toys to thirty sick children and their siblings who otherwise may not have presents to open due to family finances being stretched for the cost of care for the sick child.
Most of the gifts were distributed at the Stephen's Hope Party last Saturday. Steven's Hope was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Carden parents, students and staff and are so thankful we provided for so many children. Thank you all for spreading the holiday spirit of giving!
Steven's Hope - December 2011 - Carden Arbor View School will partner with Steven's Hope Winter Wonderland Project. This year we will support 20 children and their wishes to provide presents for their families at the holidays.
