A Welcome from Our Head of School
Founded in 1981, Carden Arbor View School proudly continues the educational philosophy and teaching methodologies developed by Miss Mae Carden. As a nonsectarian, culturally diverse, and values-based independent school, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
My connection to Carden Arbor View spans more than 22 years and nearly every stage of a student’s educational journey. I began my career here in our childcare program and have since served as a reading teacher, motor development instructor, middle school teacher, administrator, and now Head of School. These experiences have provided me with a deep appreciation for the transformative impact of a Carden education and the unique culture that defines our school community.
At Carden Arbor View, students are challenged academically while being supported as individuals. Guided by Mae Carden’s philosophy and our core values of Reason, Respect, and Responsibility, our faculty fosters intellectual curiosity, strong character, and a lifelong love of learning. Our small class sizes and dedicated teachers ensure that every child is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.
A visit to our campus reveals what makes our school special. You will find students engaged in meaningful discussions, reading classic literature, solving complex problems, conducting hands-on investigations, and developing the confidence to express their ideas. Beyond the classroom, you will discover a warm and welcoming community where meaningful relationships between students, families, and faculty create a strong foundation for growth and success.
Our mission is to educate the whole child. We strive to develop not only strong scholars, but also thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate young people who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Carden graduates leave our school equipped with the academic foundation, confidence, and character to thrive in high school and beyond.
I invite you to visit our campus and experience firsthand the exceptional learning environment that has distinguished Carden Arbor View School for more than four decades. We look forward to welcoming your family and sharing the many ways in which a Carden education can make a lasting difference in your child’s life.
Warmly,
Brian Edwards

A Leader with Roots in the Community
Mr. Edwards is a lifelong member of the Carden Arbor View community, having attended the school as a child and played on the same campus where he now serves as Head of School. His connection to Carden spans generations — his mother also served as both teacher and Head of School, shaping his early appreciation for the school’s mission and values.
He has served Carden Arbor View since 2004 in a range of roles across childcare, reading, motor development, and middle school education, bringing a deep, school-wide perspective to his leadership.
Today, Mr. Edwards continues his commitment to Carden not only as Head of School, but also as a parent, with his own children attending the school.
